This arresting imagery was developed for an awareness campaign for the lung disease Nontuberculous Mycobacteria lung disease or NTM.
Specifically intended to shock, this visual metaphor showcases the growing incident rate of the disease.
The main challenges were to animate the lungs so they collapsed and dissolved naturally, and to enable the CGI termites to conform to this dissolving geometry as they scuttled about the wooden lungs.
Results
Doctors in the US have been using these campaign visuals to increase the awareness of the NTM lung disease.
